Champagne Day 2024 by Moët & Chandon in Accra

Ghana was one of seven African countries selected to officially host Champagne Day 2024, a celebration honouring the craftsmanship, creativity, and timeless elegance of Moët & Chandon. In 2024, the Maison partnered with fashion designer Aisha Ayensu of Christie Brown, who unveiled a one-of-a-kind creation — her personal interpretation of Moët & Chandon’s savoir-faire story, inspired by her visit to Épernay, France.

For A Life of Design (ALOD), being entrusted to bring this story to life in Accra was an exciting creative challenge we embraced wholeheartedly. The goal was simple yet profound: to create an evening that wasn’t just seen, but felt – weaving together design, storytelling, and emotion to celebrate artistry in all its forms.

A Night Told in Three Pours

The evening unfolded as a sensory journey told in three distinct chapters — each paired with a different Moët & Chandon champagne, inviting guests to savour the craft behind every pour.

The first pour set the tone: warm, welcoming, and expectant. Guests arrived at Dot Ateliers, a modern rammed-earth studio tucked in the heart of Labadi. The contrast between its striking exterior and the candlelit intimacy within mirrored the night’s theme – tradition meeting modernity, craftsmanship meeting emotion.

As the second pour began, guests found themselves seated at a beautifully set table with the evening’s menu curated by Chef Mawuli Dzansi, whose Ghanaian fusion theme paired effortlessly with each champagne selection. Between laughter, conversation, and clinking glasses, guests penned their personal “Toast to Their Craft” – handwritten reflections sealed inside a gold acrylic Craft Capsule, designed to be reopened one year later.

The third and final pour carried the evening into a celebration of harmony. Guests transitioned into lounge setting, greeted by live violin melodies, a wall of Polaroid portraits taken earlier in the night, and desserts that felt like small works of art. It was the kind of ending that lingers ith music, movement, and laughter coming together in an effortless rhythm.

The Craft of Collaboration

The quality of this production was a testament to a detailed brief from the Maison in France and an open, collaborative relationship with Moët Hennessy’s Experience Management Team, led by Christopher Opara. From concept to execution, every touchpoint was very intentional – a seamless blend of technical precision, creative storytelling, and cultural authenticity.

As with every ALOD project, we design meaning, not just moments. And when it all comes together –  when the last guest leaves, the lights dim, and we all share a quick high five before the debrief –  that’s where the real satisfaction lives.

Thank you to Moët Hennessy, Imexco Ghana Limited, and our incredible team of vendors for a night that was, quite simply, excellence all around.
