CACAO CONCEPT STORE ’23

ON GIVING A BRAND A SENSE OF PLACE

The strongest retail experiences don’t simply display products. They invite people into the world that made them.

For Cacao, a sustainable fashion label by Kwaku Bediako, we were commissioned to develop a retail concept that translated the brand’s identity into a physical environment.

Inspired by the farms that grow the infamous fruit that gave the brand its name, we imagined a concept store that felt less like a boutique and more like a contemporary interpretation of a cocoa warehouse – warm, tactile and filled with memory. A handcrafted cocoa tree formed the heart of the space, surrounded by suspended cane weaving, softly lit lanterns, stacked cocoa sacks and garments displayed as though they belonged within the working landscape itself. Every material was selected to create a retail experience that felt immersive without becoming theatrical.

Rather than separating shopping from storytelling, the concept encouraged visitors to discover the collection while moving through the atmosphere that inspired it.

When a brand has a strong point of view, the space should compliment the product.
